Air Conditioning On School Buses?

The topic of air conditioning on buses has been a hotly debated one, especially as of late. While parents want their children to be comfortable during their commute, bus drivers face the financial burden of installing and maintaining air conditioning units.
Bus drivers want to ensure the safety and comfort of their passengers, but the additional cost is a concern. Hopefully parents of St. Tammany Parish students and St. Tammany Parish School Board members can work together to come up with a solution that benefits everyone.
In the meantime, bring on the cooler weather!
We were fine without it growing up. Airflow and a couple or exhaust fans are sufficient. Estimates put retrofitting for AC around $11,000 per bus. I'm sure it's probably higher than that and the parish has over 300 buses I believe.
If anything, school board could implement it as new buses are added and/or replaced and see if AC a feasible option financially as they scale it up. However, at that point people will say it's unfair that some buses have AC and some do not.
